Pavel Shabanov has successfully defended his PhD thesis
04.02.2025
On February 4, 2025, a significant event occurred at the Sea-Air Interaction Laboratory - Pavel Shabanov defended his PhD thesis titled "Duration of the Ice-Free Period in the Coastal Zone of the Kara Sea Based on Remote Sensing Data".
Shabanov's research focuses on an important issue in modern climatology - examining changes in the duration of the ice-free period, with a focus on the coastal zone of the Kara Sea. Using satellite observation data, he conducted a detailed analysis of ice conditions and identified statistically significant trends in the duration of the ice-free period in the Kara Sea's coastal zone. These trends have significant implications for the ecology and economy of the region.
During the defense, which was conducted at a high level, Pavel presented the results of his research, generating great interest and positive feedback from the audience. His study not only adds to existing scientific knowledge but also opens up new avenues for future research into climate change and its impact on marine ecosystems.
We would like to congratulate Pavel Shabanov and his supervisor, Sergey Gulev, on the successful defense. We wish Pavel continued success in his academic career! His research will undoubtedly contribute significantly to the advancement of scientific knowledge and our understanding of the processes occurring in the Arctic region.
